Vintage Halloween: Decor That Never Goes Out of Style

Vintage Halloween Collection

Vintage Halloween decor that never goes out of style

Black cats, grinning pumpkins, and a witch who looks like she'd rather be baking. Vintage is the warm corner of Halloween, and it's the one we keep coming back to.

Why vintage

The Halloween that smiles back

Vintage Halloween was never out to scare anybody. The cats arch their backs but nobody's hissing. The pumpkins grin. Even the skeletons look like they're having a good time. It's Halloween drawn by someone who thought October ought to feel warm.

Which is exactly why it lasts. Scary goes in and out of fashion. Charming doesn't.

Your party will come together so easily. It's like magic.

Good questions

Vintage Halloween, answered

What makes Halloween decor "vintage"?

It's a style, not an age. Vintage Halloween borrows from the printed paper decorations of the early to mid 1900s: black cats with arched backs, jack-o-lanterns that grin instead of snarl, witches on broomsticks, and a palette of orange, black, and cream. The characters look drawn rather than photographed, and the whole mood leans playful instead of frightening.

How do I set a vintage Halloween table?

Start with a runner down the middle, then layer plates: a large 11 inch design on the bottom and a smaller character plate on top. Mix designs rather than matching them, since the whole point of the look is that it feels collected over time. Add a napkin, then put something with height in the center so the table isn't flat.

Is vintage Halloween decor kid friendly?

Yes, and that's a big part of why it lasts. There's no gore and nothing that jumps out. The characters are drawn to be charming, so a four year old can sit at the table without anyone worrying about nightmares, and the same table still looks good for the adults.

Can I mix new pieces with vintage decor I already own?

That's how it's designed to work. The palette and drawing style stay consistent from one season to the next, so a plate you bought a while back sits happily next to something new. Most people add a few pieces each fall and end up with a set that keeps growing.

Can I reuse this decor next year?

The felt pieces, banners, and hanging characters are all made to come back out. Felt doesn't crease the way paper does, and the banners and garlands pack flat so they store without getting crushed. Plates, napkins, and cupcake kits are the parts you restock, which is why the designs coordinate season to season.
