Four years ago we made three little paper houses for the middle of a table. They have since become the thing people come back for every October, one house at a time, until there is a glowing Halloween street on the mantel.
The story
Borrowed from under the Christmas tree
There is an old tradition of little cardboard houses, dusted in glitter and lit from the inside, set out under the tree every December. Collectors call them putz houses. They are the reason a room full of grown adults will go quiet when someone turns off the lamps and switches on a paper village.
We kept wondering why that magic only belonged to Christmas. Halloween is the other season people decorate for with real feeling, and it deserved a street of its own. So we drew one. Then a customer told us, better than we could, exactly why it worked.
These are the cutest Halloween houses. You see them all the time for Christmas and I’ve collected vintage ones over the years. But it was fun to see these for Halloween, my second favorite holiday.

How the village grew
Every year the street gets a few new addresses. Nothing gets retired to make room, which is the whole point of a collection you build.
Three houses on a table
The village starts small and unlit, as a set of 3D paper houses meant to run down the middle of a table, sit on a shelf, or stand at each place setting.
The lights go on
Six addresses arrive at once and they glow: Halloween Academy, Witches Brewing, Haunted Home, Halloween Abbey, Spell Bindery and Witch Cottage.
A high street
Dead & Breakfast, Haberdashery and Eastside Elixirs turn a cluster of houses into somewhere that feels like a town, with matching treat boxes to hand out.
Somewhere to shop and sit
Bootique, Cauldron Café and Madame Mystic add a storefront, a place to gather and a fortune teller, each with a built-in six hour timer.

Every house in the village starts as original artwork from our own design studio in North Salt Lake. Nothing is licensed in and nothing is bought off a catalogue. That is why the 2023 houses still sit happily beside the 2026 ones: the same hands drew both, and the palette was always meant to carry across years.
It is also why we can answer a review. When enough people said they were tired of climbing up to a shelf to switch a house off, we could change the product rather than explain it away.

What is the My Mind’s Eye Halloween Village?
It is a collection of light-up Halloween paper houses, added to every year since 2023. Each house is a separate piece you buy on its own, so you can start with one and build a street over several seasons. Past years coordinate with current ones by design.
Do the Halloween village houses light up?
Yes. Each house glows from the inside. The 2026 houses have a built-in six hour timer, so the village comes on each evening and switches itself off without you touching it.
What are the houses made of?
Sturdy paperboard, built in three dimensions rather than printed flat. Customers regularly describe them as heavier and better made than they expected from paper.
Do older houses still match the new ones?
They are designed to. The palette and scale carry across every year, so a 2024 Witch Cottage sits happily next to a 2026 Cauldron Café. Several collectors now own every house we have made.
How do I start a Halloween village?
Pick one house you like and put it somewhere you will actually see it: a mantel, a bookshelf, an entry table. Most people add one or two more the following year. There is no set order and no starter kit, which is deliberate.
Do the houses sell out?
Most years, yes, and usually before Halloween arrives. Each year is a limited run, and once a design is gone it does not come back in the same form.
