A Harvest Table That Starts With the Leaves

A harvest table that starts with the leaves
Anne of Gingham and Bows took the colors of our oversized autumn leaves as her starting point, then built the rest of her Thanksgiving table in Vermont from pieces she already loved.
The moment
Plaid, rattan and garden hydrangeas
The leaves went up first, rust, orange and cranberry along the shelf beneath our Give Thanks canvas sign. On the table, Anne laid down a plaid tablecloth she has had for years and set rattan chargers at every place. On top went the Deep Brown Windowpane plates, then the scalloped Happy Harvest Line Art plates, then the little Pumpkin Line Art plates, with a Fall Foliage napkin tucked beside each fork.

For the centerpiece she clipped hydrangeas from her own yard and set them in a woven basket, then added candles, mini pumpkins and gourds she already had on hand.
My favorite tip for creating a tablescape, is to shop your own home first for pieces that will work with your theme. As tempting as it is to buy something new for a tablescape, it truly helps my creativity to use what I already own to create something new.

Why Thanksgiving
Gathered around the table
“My favorite part of Thanksgiving is simply spending the day with family and gathering around the table together. I especially love our tradition of enjoying a classic turkey dinner with all the familiar sides we look forward to every year. And of course, pumpkin pie for dessert!”
